Matthias currently serves as the Finance Director of Die Haftpflichtkasse VVaG, a property and casualty insurance company employing approximately 470 FTEs with an annual turnover of € 270 million. He holds this position since 2007 and is responsible for a wide range of financial and operational areas, including accounting and financial reporting, regulatory reporting, taxation, back-office asset management, debt collection, payment transactions, reinsurance, coinsurance and commission settlement.

Before joining Haftpflichtkasse, Matthias has spent ten years at KPMG as a Wirtschaftsprüfer (German Certified Public Accountant), specializing in the audit of financial institutions and insurance companies. His work included group consolidations in both Germany and China.

Matthias is also a Steuerberater (German Certified Tax Advisor) and offers professional consulting services in finance and taxation.
